Encouraging Your Child Kathy Kuhl 9780981938936 Books Reviews
Loved this book -- it was a fast read, and thoughtfully put together. Chapter 9 alone is worth the purchase price "Helping Our Children Encourage Themselves" is fabulous! This is a great gift for someone engaged in the process of parenting, or for someone who is cheerleading someone who is parenting.
As a homeschooling mother of four, one with special needs, I found this book to be very practical. There were lots of examples as well as hands on application for all parents. I often found myself thinking, this would apply to my husband, peers or others in ministry. The big take away was not to shield our children, especially those with special needs from hardship or difficulties. These things that we tend avoid are great learning and growing opportunities for our kids. Instead of manipulating the situation, specifically guide, praise and lead them through the minefield of disappointment.
Kathy, your book is very well done. Thank you for taking care to include so many important points and extra resources in it. It is thorough, even for a small book, which made it nice to be able to read quickly. I love that this book is easy to read, yet so impactful, and the stories truly help highlight the concepts presented. I highlighted as I read, and will use it as a "go-to" both as a mom and as a social worker. Your humility makes one feel comforted and the fresh ideas, encouraged. Any parent will be glad they read this book!
